These low calorie protein brownies are only 146 calories per square, and have 7.5 grams of protein! If you are averse to the flavor of protein powder, let me assure you, these taste nothing like protein powder! Because of the chocolate pancake mix, the chocolate hazelnut spread, and the chocolate protein powder, these brownies taste just like the real thing!

Are protein bars the best way to get more protein into your diet?
I recommend getting protein into your diet through whole foods. I love adding greek yogurt, chicken, turkey, and cheese into many of my recipes to boost the protein! Protein bars are a great snack, as long as they do not taste like chalk. My two favorite protein bars are Built Bars and Healthy eating on the go bars.
Where can you find the Double Chocolate Kodiak Cake Power mix?
I was able to find this mix at my local Walmart, you can also purchase it online and at most grocery stores. If you are unable to find this mix you can use the normal Kodiak Cake Powder mix and add about a ¼ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder.
Why do brownies have crackly tops?
The main reason that brownies have the iconic flaky top is that the butter, sugar, and eggs combined with the chocolate create a meringue-like crust on top of the baked good.
How long do the chocolate covered strawberry brownies stay good for?
You should store these macro friendly brownies in an airtight container at room temperature. If you want to keep them longer, you can freeze them for a couple of weeks in a zip-locked bag.
Can you use vegan protein powder in this recipe?
If you do not like the flavor of whey protein powder, or it is hard for you to digest, you can try a vegan protein powder. I find that whey bakes a little better, but I love the Nuzest chocolate vegan protein, click here for a discount!
What if I do not like strawberries?
If you do not like strawberries you can omit this ingredient. The bonus of really any baked good is that you can get creative with the toppings or mix-ins. Other ideas include:
- Dairy free chocolate chips or regular chocolate chips
- Rainbow sprinkles
- Peanut butter or almond butter
- Salted caramel chips
- Crushed Oreos (any flavor would be good)
- Reese’s Pieces
- Strawberry or raspberry jam swirled throughout
- Chocolate chip cookie dough bites
- Top with caramel and flaky sea salt
Do you have to use a low calorie sweetener?
If you want to replace the low calorie sugar replacement with a natural sweetener you could use 2-3 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey.
