I had a hard time deciding whether to name these spring rolls or wontons. The shape resembles spring rolls but the size is similar to a wonton. Fairly, I would say they are a combination of both because the wrapper is very thin like a spring roll but they are small and you can just pop them in your mouth.

The main difference between a wonton and a spring roll is that spring roll wrappers are very thin and do not contain eggs. Wonton wrappers and egg roll wrappers contain the same ingredients, flour, egg, and water and are a bit thicker.

Ingredients for Oreo spring rolls:

You only need three ingredients in total to make this recipe, the rolling process is a little complicated but other than that they are pretty quick!

  • 8 oz fat-free cream cheese (softened)
  • 36 Oreo thins
  • Phyllo dough (store-bought), cut into 6inX4in rectangles: I have never made phyllo dough and I never plan to, but if you hate the store-bought kind feel free to make your own!
  • 3 tbsp liquid egg whites
  • Swerve confectioners sugar for dusting (optional)

Are spring rolls fried?

Spring rolls may be baked or fried, in this recipe I use an air fryer. If you do not have one a conventional oven will work just fine.

If you are air frying:

It is a super quick process, once the spring rolls are rolled up, you air fry them at 350 F for 5 minutes.

To reheat them, I highly recommend using the air fryer because after they sit for a while they will lose their crispness.

If you are baking:

Bake the spring rolls at 350 F for 3 minutes, flip them then bake them for 3-5 more minutes until crispy and browned.

What is the process of making the Oreo spring rolls?

You only need three ingredients for this recipe but all three of them are necessary. The rolling process is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

  1. You are going to want to cut the phyllo dough into 4 rectangles, specifically 6inX4in rectangles.
  2. Dollop 1 tbsp of the cookies and cream mixture onto the rectangle and roll it up by folding the bottom up, then follow with folding the left and right sides over, then roll it up. If you ever made a burrito this is the same process.
  3. To simplify explaining this I also took pictures, follow these when preparing this recipe.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Can you fill the spring roll with a different filling?

You sure could! Some ideas:

  • Raspberries and Cream Cheese
  • Peanut Butter and Cream Cheese
  • Peanut Butter and Fluff
  • Ricotta Cheese, Sugar, and Chocolate Chips
  • Mini M&M’s, Cream Cheese, and Sugar

The options seem pretty endless, I may try the peanut butter and cream cheese next, yum!

How do you warm up the spring rolls?

I would reheat the spring rolls in the air fryer for about 2-4 minutes so they crisp back up. Once they sit for a few days they will be soggy, this does not mean they are bad they just need to be warmed back up!

What if I do not have an air fryer?

Have no fear, you can use a conventional oven to bake these, it will be fairly quick as well since they are small little spring rolls. Bake them at 350 F for 3 minutes, flip them and bake them for 3-5 more minutes.

Why are my spring rolls soggy?

If you store them in an airtight container in the fridge. Which you should, they will gather some moisture and lose their crispness. This does not mean they are bad, just pop them back in the air fryer to warm them up.
