Breakfast for supper or supper for breakfast? Who makes these rules anyway! Simple. Easy. Delicious. That’s the name of the game here! This recipe is easy to cut into a meal for one, but this breakfast burger make four burgers. I love breakfast because it’s the only meal that it’s totally acceptable to have sugar and basically dessert as the meal. I mean, come one – oatmeal, pancakes and cinnamon rolls? That’s dessert!
However, Carl’s Jr., Burger King, McDonald’s and Whataburger don’t hold a match to this breakfast burger. Don’t get me wrong, I love a classic cheeseburger… or a jalapeño and pepper jack burger. Oh man…I’m going to need some fries. STAT.

How do I make the healthy breakfast burger?
Simple. Easy. Delicious. That’s the name of the game here! This recipe is easy to cut into a meal for one, but this breakfast burger make four burgers. Start with one pound of ground turkey and divide into four patties. Place the patties into a heated frying pan that has been sprayed with 0 calorie cooking spray. Once the patties are in the pan, add a little water to increase the moisture of the burgers and smash them down using the back of the spatula.
Cook the burgers completely through to your liking and remove from eat. Add your smashed burger to the English muffin and top with a slice of cheese.
In your pan, add the eggs and cook to your liking – for this recipe, I suggest over easy because the yolk becomes a delicious dipping sauce, but that’s not for everyone.
When your egg is cooked, add to your burger stack and finish it off with a slice of bacon! I use the pre-cooked bacon as a quick and easy option. If you’re looking for lower fat, swap out for turkey bacon!
Add the top half of the English muffin and ta-da! Breakfast burger is complete.
Can I have burgers for breakfast?
Obviously! So breakfast burgers would be more fitting for lunch or dinner, but I’m not judging when you eat it. I do have some fun things to switch it up, and make it more “breakfast†like.
This recipe uses ground turkey, but switching it up and using ground sausage or pre-cooked sausage patties is a great option – it’s like a sausage breakfast burger. Another fun trade would be using pancakes as buns!
One last addition – if you want to dip your breakfast burger in maple syrup instead of catchup, it would be much more of a “breakfast friendly†meal.
