As a kid I never had hamburger helper, but cheese and pasta were definitely the main food groups of my diet back then… nothing wrong with that. I still have never had hamburger helper to this day, but I am always up for a challenge and wanted to make a cheesy hamburger pasta of my own.
In comparison to the typical recipe, this is higher in protein, lower in calories, and equally as delicious! I promise you, when you make this dish, you will look forward to when you can eat it again…and your kids will love it too! What child does not love cheesy pasta?!?! Yes I know, not a one.
Here Is What You Will Need For The Cheesy Hamburger Mac:
- Lean Ground Beef
- Rotini or Spiral Pasta
- Skim Milk
- Shredded Fat Free Cheese
- Onion
- Flour
- Tomato Paste
- Better Than Bouillon Beef Base
- Cane Sugar
- Paprika
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic Powder
Instructions For The Cheesy Hamburger Mac:
- To begin, finely chop the onion
- Spray a pan with cooking spray and cook the ground beef over medium heat until cooked through
- Now add the chopped onion and cook until translucent
- Now, stir in the beef bouillon, 1 and 1/2 cups of water, and the milk
- Now add the tomato paste, spices, and flour
- Bring everything to a boil and add in the pasta
- Cook for 8-10 minutes
- Stir in the cheddar cheese and then remove from the pan
- Serve right away or save up for the week for some meal prep
- This recipe yields 5-6 delicious servings!

- 2 cups Skim Milk 2 cups (430 mL)
- 1 3/4 cup Water
- 1 1/4 cup Shredded Fat Free Cheese (130 grams)
- 1/2 Onion (140 grams)
- 2 tbsp Flour (21 grams)
- 3 tbsp Tomato Paste (45 grams)
- 10 grams Better Than Bouillon Beef Base
- 1 tsp Cane Sugar
- 1 tbsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Pepper
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
